Day 1: Friday, June 18, 2021
Day 1: We are excited to kick off our 2021 Global Summit. We are starting the day off with a leadership panel featuring Ebru Köksal (Turkey), Rana Hussain (Australia), and Mariam Mell'Osiime Mpaata (Uganda). This panel of women will talk about how they are using their positions to pave the way for future leaders in sport as well as how they are shaping the governance and leadership of the global sports industry for the better. Our keynote speaker is Nadia Nadim (Denmark) who will share her journey around becoming a footballer as well as other areas she is passionate about. The second part of her talk will bring in young leaders in sports who will have an opportunity to speak with Nadia. The third session is with Nyimas Bunga Cinta (Indonesia) who will share with us her story on becoming a professional skateboarder. The next two sessions demonstrate the impact of athletes and researchers using their position and voice to shape society for the better. First, hear from Dr Haifa Tlili (France) who will be speaking about the Hijabeuses Campaign to abrogate the FFF Hijab Ban. She will be joined by Leïla Kellou, one of the members of Les Hijabeuses, an organisation that is leading social change both offline and online in France. The last session features, Zainab Alema (United Kingdom) who will speak to us about her life as a Black Muslim woman in rugby. She will share with us how she is juggling her identity within the rugby community and her goals to bring about change through her passion for rugby.

Day two continues the conversation around how Muslim sportswomen are spearheading both social and policy changes at the local and international level. We start the day off with Houda Loukili (Netherlands) how she is creating and advocating for young girls to make sports more accessible. The athlete activism panel features Noor Alexandria Abukaram (United States of America) and Amreen Kadwa (Canada). These young trailblazers will be sharing their stories around sports and policy and the work they are doing to ensure all young women have opportunities to participate in sports. We end the day with Khalida Popal (Afghanistan), she will share with us how she is using football (soccer) as a tool for inclusion and empowerment for women. She will also provide solutions on how to develop women's football both at the grassroots and professional level.

The final day of the summit hits on various themes. First, we will start off with a panel featuring Khadijah Diggs (United States of America), a triathlete, and Samira Asghari (Afghanistan), IOC member from Afghanistan. They will be sharing their inspirational stories around how they are using their positions to create opportunities for Muslim women in sport. We will also hold a workshop, which will be led by Ebru Köksal. This special workshop is for a limited number of attendees (please visit our social media page where the link is posted to sign up), will focus on key leadership growth areas of confidence building and the critical elements around it to which aid in one's growth. Attendees will have a chance to partake in the modules which are used in leadership courses delivered for the likes of FIFA and UEFA.
