Operations Manager of Creating Chances and Football United, Assmaah has been driving Sport for Social Change initiatives for over a decade. Assmaah has a background in youth work and Sports and Exercise Science. Assmaah describes herself as a social innovator, combining her passion for sport and education to contribute to changing the lives of young people, particularly women and girls, to create positive change in their communities.

As an avid footballer, and founder of Unigoal Sisters, she was involved in the FIFA campaign among other epic gamechangers, to convinced FIFA, football’s governing body, to change its rules and allow the hijab to be worn by Muslim women and girls on the football field as part of the official uniform.

As the former Chairperson for the Commonwealth Youth Sports for Development and Peace (CYSDP) Assmaah has experience in advocacy, representing the youth voice at heads of government meetings, developing policy papers and toolkits, and promoting best practices in sport for development across the globe.

As a creative, diligent, and passionate individual, Assmaah has emerged as a pioneer and leader in her community. She was recognised as Muslim Sportsperson of the Year in 2012 by the Australian Muslim community for her years of commitment to developing initiatives and projects that provided safe spaces for, and encouraged, Muslim women to participate in sport. She is an advisory member of GoActive, an initiative that promotes the physical and social well-being of young women through regular sports programs in an inclusive environment.

In her spare time Assmaah joins the Sydney Cycling Sisters often riding across Sydney. She loves hiking, exploring and outdoor adventure!
