Nelly Attar is a Lebanese national, born and raised in Saudi Arabia. She is an entrepreneur, trainer, athlete and former psychologist. As an entrepreneur, Nelly founded ‘Move’ a Dance studio in Riyadh in 2017. This was the first, and still is the only dance studio in Saudi Arabia.
Through ‘Move’, thousands of females across Saudi have been able to enjoy the beauty of dance and a new way of staying healthy and active. Move has also organized numerous outdoor activities for females over the years, including a climb through Africa’s highest peak (Kilimanjaro), a seasonal running club, and taking children on bi-weekly hikes in Riyadh. Once again, Nelly is pushing the boundaries of what is possible amidst the social and cultural changes that are happening in the Kingdom, making a very positive impact for many people along the way.
As an athlete and Mountaineer, Nelly has taken on several impressive challenges and expeditions across the world. She has pushed the limits of human achievement and her own comfort zone many times. Nelly has successfully reached the top of Mount Everest in 2019, as one of the first three Lebanese females. She has scaled 14 other peaks across the world (including 4 peaks out of the Seven Summit challenge), completed 2 IronMan 70.3 races, and ran 6 global marathons/ultramarathons. In December 2019, Nelly was awarded ‘Female Fitness Influencer of the Year’ at the FIT Awards hosted by Sport360 in Dubai, determined by a public vote.
More recently, Nelly started to work closely with the public sector (Sports for All Federation and Saudi General Sports Authority) and large corporations, to support grassroots and wellness initiatives.
